How exciting to see the improvement in just one week for some of our youngest wrestlers! After getting their feet wet in Bonners Ferry the team was ready to go on Saturday at Lake City High School with some newfound confidence and maybe a bit more aggressiveness.

Sandpoint Legacy’s overall win percentage led the competition with 63.6%. Our 42 wrestlers in 43 brackets earned a total of 29 medals with a highlight being we went from just two Bantams placing last weekend to nine in the top three at Lake City – which was amazing! The Novice and Middle School divisions continued to kill it with almost everyone in the finals.

An additional 120 kids overall in the tournament boosted some of the brackets, and we were glad teammates didn’t have to wrestle each other, but a couple of weight classes still lacked the numbers we needed for suitable matches. Fingers crossed the November tournaments lead to full brackets with good competition. Win or lose we just want to see the kids have an opportunity to get out on the mat, test those skills, learn and have fun.
