It’s been a bit since we were able to make it to a little guy tournament, but with an off weekend for Tyler and Zak, the Wood Family was off to Mead, WA to help coach and cheer on the Sandpoint Legacy team. The Mt. Spokane Yetis hosted a great little tournament that gave most of our wrestlers some tough round-robin brackets and put Braxley in a 16-man bracket at 10U 56lbs.
While Kaleb knocked it out of the park with Coach Zak in his corner, the rest of the team worked their skills against the competition and their patience against some rough officiating calls.
It was entertaining to see Amzie show a couple of boys who was boss in her co-ed bracket, Jayla got her first win and despite Kylie and Jayla having to face off in the final round all three girls brought home a medal. Rocco was getting back into the swing of things in preparation for spring season and we were happy for him to get that pin in his final match. We are super proud of Kormac who is putting in the time this winter and keeps battling in that upper U12 weight class.
We have also enjoyed making new friends and teammates with some Bonners Ferry kids who have joined the club this winter. The Salcedo brothers were on the mat under Legacy, and Kai representing Bonners took first in two brackets.
So much fun to spend a Saturday with our Legacy family and watching these awesome wrestlers – we can easily envision them kicking butt at the high school level in a few years!
