Kootenai Klassic - Libby, MT - March 8, 2025

9 Mar by Tami Wood

We finally get to say that we are Back-to-Back Champions – bringing home the first-place trophy again for medium sized teams from the Kootenai Klassic tournament this past Saturday in Libby, MT! Way to go team on a well-earned award. This year we fell to third in points overall but the two clubs ahead of us each had between two and three times as many wrestlers as we did. Our twenty-nine Legacy wrestlers put in a good fight over the long day.

The change over to 32-man brackets in the largest weight divisions made for some tough roads to the medals and we were slightly disappointed the medals stopped at third when we had a few wrestlers in the finals that placed fourth – adding valuable points to our team score. It also put some teammates on a course to meet up especially in 10U 70lbs where two of Jaegers’s matches were against Rocco and Kaleb.

Another impressive highlight was having the best winning percentage for a team, with 88 wins and 36 losses.

Not included in our stats was the great performance by our three pee-wees to get the day started. Ryker made it through 6 matches earning 4 blue and 2 red ribbons while Wilder and Nixon collected 4 blue ribbons each, winning each match in their group.

Bracketed wrestlers who made it to the finals include 16 medalists and 4 fourth place finishes.
