The Bonners Ferry Tournament, using the new USA Bracketing program and with a record number of wrestlers, went pretty smooth and we would say our 43 Legacy wrestlers did pretty well, especially when some have only made a couple of practices since other fall sports ended.

Legacy had just two 6U wrestlers collecting ribbons in session one. We started off with Miles Darren and Savannah Russell on the mats with plenty of support from their older brothers. It was fun to see the older boys chiming in to help coach their siblings.

8U wrestlers had a great morning with nine out of the twelve making it to the finals and six placing top three. After chasing around a dozen Bantams, having only six in the 10U division gave us a bit of break and we celebrated four of them earning medals.

The reprieve didn’t last long, the final session of the day with 12U and 14U running together had us all running to cover the twenty-three wrestlers competing. A lot of our 12U teammates were wrestling from the bottom the age division so there was plenty of learning opportunities to be had. Nine wrestled into the finals and eight earned the hardware. All eight of the 14U wrestlers placed in the top three of their brackets and provided some of the most exciting wrestling of the day to watch.
