Battle for the North in Lakeland was a rough day for some of our 16 teammates, but Legacy battled through and secured enough points to finish in second place for the small team division behind our Bonners Ferry neighbors who came in with 20 kids on their roster.
Helping our team secure those valuable team points we had two bracket champions who brought home their warrior trophies – Wilder Feist in 8U 53lbs and Reed Corey in MS 132lbs!
Also medaling in their respective weight classes were:
- Kai Fusco 2nd in 8U 49lbs and 3rd in 10U 53lbs
- Trapper Feist 2nd in 8U 56lbs
- JD Mickelson 3rd in 8U 40lbs
- Brayden Doerflinger 5th in 8U 49lbs
- Jaeger Salcedo 2nd in 12U 86lbs
- Beau Bradshaw 4th 12U 78lbs
These non-league, open tournaments broaden the competition window and allow our wrestlers to match up against some different opponents. Sure, sometimes we are still running up against that NIWL rival and sometimes the brackets are not as full as we would like, but mat time is the best way to keep improving.
Great Job and Congratulations Legacy on earning another award for the trophy cabinet (which is really a table but we hope someday is a cabinet 😊)
