With wrestling spread out over two days, with two tournaments, our wrestling family was really divided between the five different sessions. We had 29 wrestlers competing in the Rumble in the North, the second leg of the Tour of Idaho series, and 8 wrestlers vying for a spot on Team Idaho for the Heartland Duals.

Friday morning started with the fierce, feisty and often adorable 6U and 8U members of the team. With ten wrestlers ready to tear it up we had six picking up hardware including one 1st, two 2nd and three 3rd place finishes.

Just three 10U teammates, plus Kai who was double bracketed, competed mid-day. Kai came away with his second 1st place medal, and Reed joined him at the top of the podium in his 56lb class.

Friday night the tournament switched gears to the Team Idaho qualifier for the Heartland Duals. After lots of tough wrestling, 1st place and spots on Team Idaho’s Elementary Team were earned by Kai at 50lbs and Jaeger at 80lbs. For the Middle School team, Dalton earned a spot at 117lbs and our 195lber also took 1st.

Saturday the team was back at it starting with 12U, where five of our seven wrestlers grabbed a couple of 2nd place medals and three more 4th place finishes.

The 14U and 16U brackets closed out the Rumble on Saturday afternoon with more competitive matches and seven more medals earned among the ten Legacy wrestlers including four championships.

Sandpoint Legacy ended the weekend 4th in total points - and even without Dalton’s stats, since he wrestled under Bonners, we were the number one pinning team with 61 pins – one more than the number two team. Maxx had the most pins of the tournament with nine.
